"They're not supposed to be able to remove a player from the puck with any force except while playing the puck," Wroblewski said. "And it happens time and again. A team that might not be as skilled or athletic is allowed to hold up and break the rules. Meanwhile, if those same players played against the opponent the same way, they'd be in the penalty box every time."
Despite the kerfuffle, the US team is advancing to the semifinals on Monday, and a gold medal seems increasingly likely. However, Wroblewski's concerns about refereeing fairness remain a topic of discussion, leaving fans and experts debating the consistency of officiating in women's hockey.
The team's forward, Taylor Heise, acknowledged the heated nature of the game, stating that they had to play a 'specific' style against Italy. She emphasized the importance of adapting their strategy to achieve success, even if it meant getting a little spicy on the ice.
