UFC White House Event: No Profit, But a Massive Investment for the Future | TKO Exec Explains (2026)

A bold statement has been made: the UFC's upcoming White House event will not bring profits. But here's the catch - it's a strategic move with a bigger picture in mind.

The event, a brainchild of President Trump, is set to take place on the South Lawn, with an octagon and seating for 5,000. An additional viewing area at the Ellipse will accommodate up to 85,000 spectators.

With a projected cost of $60 million, TKO's President Mark Shapiro confirms it won't turn a profit. The aim is to recoup half through sponsors and partnerships. Shapiro explains, "It's an investment. We expect to offset $30 million through corporate deals, even if costs rise. We have partners interested in long-term deals, including the White House event. But we won't profit independently from this event."

The UFC's previous one-off event in Las Vegas cost over $20 million, but the White House event is a much larger financial commitment. Despite this, TKO views it as an investment for the future.

UFC CEO Dana White believes the event will be the most-viewed fight card ever, simulcast on CBS and Paramount+. White confirms the card is set, but logistical issues remain.

Shapiro emphasizes, "This is about the long-term. It's about media exposure, attracting new fans, and creating a spectacle to expand our audience and success on Paramount+."

So, is this a wise investment or a risky move? What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments!
