Initially, a leaked rough cut of the teaser trailer surfaced in late December 2025, sparking excitement among Marvel enthusiasts. Typically, such leaks prompt an immediate official release from Sony. However, this time, the studio held back. According to insider information, the plan was to delay the trailer's debut until 2026.
Now that we're well into 2026, the marketing machine appears to be revving up. Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus, a reliable source, shared an update on X (formerly Twitter), hinting at an imminent trailer release. While no specific date has been confirmed, Perez noted, "There’s been some movement from Sony. Hearing a trailer release may be imminent. No date yet, as far as I know. But the recent movements make me think it could be within a matter of days. Time will tell."
This news has sent ripples of anticipation through the fandom. But here's where it gets interesting...
Tom Holland is set to return as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in this fourth installment, which is set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The narrative picks up after the events of 2021's No Way Home, where the universe forgot Peter Parker's identity. This allows the MCU to bring Holland's Spider-Man closer to his comic book roots.
Destin Daniel Cretton takes the director's chair, replacing Jon Watts. Production for Brand New Day kicked off in August 2025 and wrapped in December of the same year.
While Sony and Marvel Studios are keeping plot details under wraps, the film is expected to be more grounded than the multiverse-spanning adventure of No Way Home. Confirmed villains include Scorpion and Tombstone. Michael Mando will reprise his role as Mac Gargan/Scorpion from Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Marvin Jones III has been cast as Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone.
