NASA's Living With a Star Program: Understanding the Sun-Earth Connection (2026)

B.3 Living With a Star Science Clarification on Interagency Awards - NASA Science

B.3 Living With a Star Science (LWS) focuses on the science needed to understand the Sun–Earth system and its effects on life and society. The program’s primary aim is to push forward scientific knowledge of this coupled system so that predictions of space environment conditions at Earth, across other planetary systems, and throughout the interplanetary medium become possible.

Section 7 of B.3 Living With a Star Science (LWS) has a clarified stance on interagency awards. The guidelines for interagency awards described in Section 1.1.1 of B.1 Heliophysics Research Program Overview apply to this program element. The new text is highlighted in bold. Deadlines remain the same: Step-1 Proposals are due January 21, 2026, and Step-2 will be due no earlier than 60 days after Step-2 invitations have been issued (see Section 5.1).

If there are questions about B.3 LWS, they can be directed to Susanna Finn at susanna.c.finn@nasa.gov and John McCormack at john.p.mccormack@nasa.gov.
