Welcome to another edition of Levitan's DFS Cash Lineup Review! This week, we're diving into the strategies and outcomes of Week 14. Get ready for an insightful journey through the world of fantasy football and daily fantasy sports.
The Cash Game Conundrum: Navigating the 50% Payout Field
In the realm of DFS, I dedicate a significant portion of my weekly action, around 60%, to cash games. These are the contests where approximately half of the participants walk away with a payout. Think head-to-head, double-up, or 50/50 formats. My strategy? Maximize my chances by focusing on head-to-head battles and supplementing with other cash game formats. For this review, I've prepared a lineup for both DraftKings and FanDuel.
Each week, I'll be sharing my cash game lineups and the thought process behind them. Win or lose, you'll get an inside look at my strategies. And this week's slate offered some intriguing opportunities.
But here's where it gets controversial...
My Must-Play Selections
De'Von Achane: A consistent performer in my cash lineups this season, Achane's versatility is unmatched. He can run, catch, and handle a high volume of touches. Despite the rising price tag, I stuck with him against the Jets.
James Cook, the Bengals' Running Back: With a rising game total and Cook's increasing pass-game involvement, I saw great value at $7800. The matchup against the Bengals was a no-brainer.
Michael Wilson: When Marvin Harrison is out, Wilson steps up. Despite the tough matchup against the Rams, I believed in Jacoby Brissett's arm, leading to Wilson's inclusion at $5600.
Luther Burden, the Bears' Hidden Gem: With Rome Odunze out, Burden offered talent and value at $3800. A risky move, but one that paid off in the context of the slate.
The Want-Play Decisions
Kyle Pitts, the Tight End Target: Pitts was a no-brainer based on projections. His $4200 price tag and the absence of Drake London made him a must-play. However, I considered alternatives to free up funds for Josh Allen.
Weathering the Storm: I stuck with my initial lineup despite weather concerns. Jayden Daniels' dual-threat ability and the dome advantage kept me confident, even with a downgrade at D/ST.
AD Mitchell: A risky play at $4600, but I trusted his talent and the potential for a breakout. I preferred other options, but not enough to sacrifice my RB choices.
The RB3 Dilemma: Kenneth Walker and RJ Harvey had promising spots, but Josh Jacobs' pricing and role in a crucial Packers game made him my pick. I expected a heavy workload for Jacobs.
Week 14 Results: A Mixed Bag
Injuries played a role, as they often do. Achane's potential was cut short, Daniels missed crucial time, and the Jets' backup plan didn't pan out. On FanDuel, the Walker vs. Harvey decision cost me dearly.
In hindsight, perhaps prioritizing Josh Allen on DK would have been wiser. It certainly paid off on FD. A close call, and a lesson learned.
Year-to-Date Results: A Season of Ups and Downs
The numbers speak for themselves. A consistent performance on DraftKings, with some notable wins and a few setbacks. FanDuel has been a success story, with a high win percentage in head-to-heads.
So, what do you think? Should I have prioritized Josh Allen? Share your thoughts and strategies in the comments! Let's discuss and learn from each other's experiences.
