Letitia Sim, a senior from the University of Michigan, stole the spotlight on the final night of SEA Games swimming with a 1:05.92 breaststroke split on Singapore’s record-setting 400 medley relay. Her leg placed her among an elite group of women who have swum 1:05 or faster on a long-course medley relay this year, joining Kate Douglass (USA), Anna Elendt (Germany), Tang Qiangting (China), and Satomi Suzuki (Japan). Her split narrowly outpaced her own 1:07.87 relay leg from the 2025 World Championships, edging it by almost two seconds.
Sim led a quartet that included Julia Shu Ning Yeo, Jing Wen Quah, and Ting Wen Quah to a meet-record time of 4:05.79 in the relay. Singapore celebrated a strong finish to the Bangkok meet, highlighted by a gold in the women’s 800 free from Ching Hwee Gan in 8:33.13, a gold in the men’s 200 back from Zheng Wen Quah at 2:00.62, and a 50 breast title for Chun Ho Chan with 27.68. Ting Wen Quah also secured another gold at age 33 in the 50 fly with a 26.42, setting a new SEA Games record and sealing Singapore’s success.
Ultimately, Singapore dominated the final medal tally with 19 golds, followed by Vietnam in second place and the host nation in third. The official medal table reflected this distribution.
Other notable outcomes on the final day included Thailand’s Surasit Thongdeang breaking two minutes to win the men’s 200 fly with a 1:59.64, marking the nation’s first men’s swimming gold of the meet. Malaysia’s Hoe Yean Khiew added a gold in the 400 free with a 3:50.63.
