KTM could close a major MotoGP investment deal before Christmas — and the buzz around it is growing fast.
KTM has publicly confirmed that it’s being approached by multiple potential investors eager to buy into its MotoGP program. According to the Austrian manufacturer, discussions are advancing quickly, and a finalized agreement might arrive in time for the holiday season. But here’s where it gets especially intriguing — the brand insists that while fresh funding is welcome, it won’t give up control of the team.
Over the past year, KTM has endured a turbulent financial period, sparked by a major crisis that struck the company last winter. Its long-term stability was restored when Bajaj, already a key stakeholder, increased its ownership. Bajaj reportedly believes strongly in MotoGP’s value both as a sporting venture and a global marketing powerhouse.
Recently, KTM reinforced its long-term racing ambitions by unveiling a new fire-up video of its 850cc engine, confirming its participation in MotoGP under the 2027 regulations. That announcement sent a clear message to fans and partners alike — KTM is not going anywhere.

Throughout the last 12 months, KTM has begun inviting external investment in its MotoGP operation. Rumors even linked seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton to potential involvement earlier this year — an eye-catching possibility that stirred plenty of debate among racing fans.
The timing of KTM’s openness to investors coincides with broader structural changes in MotoGP. Following Liberty Media’s takeover of the championship, there’s been a surge in outside interest from global investors. A recent example came when former Haas F1 boss Guenther Steiner led a €20 million consortium to acquire the Tech3 team, highlighting this new wave of MotoGP commercial activity.
Speaking to Speedweek, KTM CEO Gottfried Neumeister explained that investor enthusiasm has been unprecedented: “It’s no secret there’s enormous interest in our MotoGP project,” he said. KTM, he added, is seeking a partner to fund around 30% of its operational costs — but not at the expense of control. “We will never hand over the reins to someone else,” Neumeister affirmed.
He went on to reveal that the sheer amount of investor attention has actually slowed the process down. “We’re receiving new inquiries almost daily,” he said, noting that the company is intentionally moving carefully to secure the best long-term arrangement. Neumeister stressed that the ideal partner must bring more than just financial backing — they must share KTM’s passion, vision, and trust: “It’s about creating a solid partnership built on mutual respect.”
After several rounds of personal discussions with candidates, Neumeister is optimistic that a deal could be signed before Christmas. The target, he said, is to lock in a strong foundation for the 2026 season and beyond.
